Junior Judo

Students learn the history, rules and code of conduct of judo.


What will the students learn in this class?
Basic judo techniques, including throws and holds. Students study effective defense and countermeasures, minimum force theories and applications. Classes focus on how to control an opponent’s strength and body weight as well as how to master breakfalls and rolls.

What are the benefits of this class?
The benefits of judo can be found in two founding principles of the martial art: mutual welfare and benefit and maximum efficiency with minimum effort. The former emphasizes respect and courtesy for opponents and dignity for the self. The latter focuses on improving strength, flexibility and proper technique.

Who will teach this class?
Chuck Wilson is a seventh-degree judoka with more than 40 years of experience. Wilson participated in US national games and in US Air Force competitions before coming to Japan to train first in Kyoto and then in Tokyo with the metropolitan police and imperial guard. He is also the founder and managing director of fitness group Chuck Wilson Enterprises.
